poule au pot

Poule au Pot, literally "chicken in a pot," is typical Sunday dinner fare in the French countryside. It's usually cooked using a whole chicken, but tonight I made mine using chicken pieces. This recipe is crazily easy!
So yummy & comforting for the cold winter nights, serve with fresh crusty bread to mop up the leftover soupy goodness.

Poule Au Pot

+ freerange chicken pieces [approx. 1.4kg]
+ 300g of smoked streaky bacon
+ 5 white onions,peeled & sliced thinly
+ 1 tin of whole peeled organic tomatoes
+ 375ml of white wine [I used a cheapy at only $6, The Accomplice;which is a          semillon sauvignon blanc & is dry,but sweet]
+ 6 kipfler potatoes,washed & cut in half lengthways
+ 3 bay leaves
+ a hand full of fresh thyme
+ cracked pepper & sea salt

how to make.
Preheat the oven to 180c.Put half the onions & tomatoes in the bottom of a heavy, lidded cast-iron pot or casserole dish.
Arrange the chicken pieces on top followed by potatoes, then bacon.
Top with the rest of the tomato & onions, then the herbs.
Pour wine over the top and season with salt & pepper.
Cover & cook in the oven for one hour.
Remove the lid & cook for another hour.
Serve immediately with a yummy crusty bread to mop up the leftover soupy goodness.

sea pirates!

The past couple of weeks I've been busy printing, cutting, sewing,
going insane;you know?
Amongst the making,I've printed & sewn some of these extra
snuggly Sea Pirate cushions.
They're a bit fun & actually really functional!
Chuck a couple on your couch/bed/van/car/picnic rug
or wherever else a cushion can be used.

Sail over to www.millie.bigcartel.com to check out zee limited edition collection.

thrifty days

I love op-shopping/thrifting or whatever you want to call it.
It's the delicious taste of the unknown that lures me in.
That there may or may not be some little treasure
to be found amongst a sea of general rubbish, something that
has character & maybe even a story that I'll never know.
And also because that little treasure is something that
not every single person in the world will have or can easily acquire.
And I guess also because I'm a bit of a hobo who enjoys the
fact that op-shopping/thrifting is as cheap as chips.

Here are some of my bits & pieces of treasure...

colour the streets

the other day i made this bunt-tastic-bunting for my market stall.
i needed it to be asexual bunting because my creative goodies are for both mens & ladies! i also wanted it to be less 'cutesy' than the usual bunting that's currently hanging around the place.
bunting making is serious business.

and i painted these pieces of driftwood for shits'n'giggles, but i think i'll be using them as part of some other project i'm currently working on.
YAY!Seeya.

This morning I went to get my keys & voyage off to my studio to start work & this note was left for me from my friend & housemate.Yep,he's cool.
I also received a gorgeous email from an old school friend + a 4am text from a friend telling me that today is a brand new day + my crazy beautiful psychologist filling my head with goodness,my heart with love.

I am blessed to have the most genuinely amazing,
brilliant, beautiful people in my life who are there
for me when I'm not feeling like a warrior.

I love you guys so much more than you'll ever comprehend.
